His rep confirmed that two twin boys were born via surrogate and now living full time with Martin.
Singer Ricky Martin has become the father of twin boys born to a surrogate mother, his publicist says.
Martin, 36, best known for his song "Livin' La Vida Loca," didn't reveal the boys' names or the location of their births, but said they are healthy, People Magazine reported Wednesday.
"The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care," a spokesman for Martin said in a statement. "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."
The Puerto Rican singer is unmarried, and the statement did not reveal the identity of the surrogate mother. Martin has long denied rumors that he is gay, despite having a large gay fan following. He is also well-known for his charity work on children's causes through his Ricky Martin Foundation.

CONDOM RINGTONES?
A cellphone ringtone that chants "condom, condom!" has been launched in India to promote safe sex and tackle the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The "condom a cappella" has been designed to break down Indians' reluctance to discuss condom use and to make wearing a condom more acceptable.
Organisers of the campaign, funded by the foundation set up by Microsoft mogul Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, hope the ringtone will become a craze among young Indians.
About 2.5 million people live with HIV in India, said the BBC World Service Trust, the charity behind the ringtone, which was released this month. It can be downloaded at condomcondom.org.
"Ringtones have become such personal statements that a specially created condom ringtone seemed just the right way of combining a practical message with a fun approach," said Radharani Mitra, creative director of the BBC World Service Trust.
"The idea is to tackle the inhibitions and taboos that can be associated with condoms."
India is the world's fastest-growing mobile telephone market with 270 million users according to the latest official figures, up 57 percent in just one year.
AMY IS SUCH A GOOD INFLUENCE
Amy Winehouse proved what a responsible godparent she can be by taking her 12 year old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield out clubbing with her in London.
A source tells British newspaper The Daily Mirror, "Amy was in a right state, slurring her words and falling all over the place.
"It was sad to see a young girl being left to babysit her - it should be the other way around."
At one point Amy fell down drunkenly to the floor, which shocked the little girl. But in true Amy style, she got back up and continued partying.
The real question is, who in their right mind would trust their kid with Amy Winehouse??
WEDDING BELLS
"Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married tonight in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles," their spokesperson told People Magazine.
The couple had been dating since December 2004 and Ellen announced that she would marry Portia after gay marriages were legalized in California.
Ellen and Portia both wore Zac Posen and their wedding was atended by 19 guests.

R.I.P. ISAAC HAYES 8/10/08
Soul music icon Isaac Hayes was found dead in his Memphis home early Sunday morning (August 10). The pioneering R&B singer was found laying on the floor near a tread mill in his home. Hayes, 65, was rushed to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead, around 2:00 am. In later years, he became known to a new generation of fans through the Comedy Central series South Park, where he voiced the role of the affable but raunchy Chef. Hayes would leave the show in 2005 due to differences with the creators over their religious satire.
Hayes was scheduled to celebrate 50 years of Stax Records on Friday (August 15) at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, where he headlined a bill that included performances by William Bell, Eddie Floyd, The Bar-Kays.

R.I.P BERNIE MAC 8/9/08
CHICAGO, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Comedian Bernie Mac, known for his roles in films like "Guess Who," died Saturday morning at a Chicago hospital at the age of 50, the Chicago Sun-Times said.
The actor-comic, who had been hospitalized for pneumonia this month, died of unconfirmed causes at Northwestern Memorial hospital.
"It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that," said Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster.
The comedian's sudden death comes in the wake of a statement from his publicist, Danica Smith, who said Thursday that Mac's condition had stabilized.
Smith had repeatedly denied that Mac's bout of pneumonia was related to a pre-diagnosed inflammatory lung disease the actor suffered from, the Sun-Times said.
People magazine said the actor, whose real name was Bernard McCullough, is survived by his wife, Rhonda McCullough; a daughters, Je'Niece; and a granddaughter, Jasmine..

That got us thinking: what would a Paris Hilton administration actually look like? Adam McKay, founder of the site FunnyOrDie.com, which put together the Paris video and is working on a followup, shared some of his ideas with NEWSWEEK's Ramin Setoodeh: 1. The White House would become the Pink House. "I think she'd do everything pink," McKay says. "It would be pink on the outside, pink carpets, pink furniture, pink jammies. The men on her staff would be cool with it—they'd be shirtless Chippendale types, with names like Leon." 2. 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue would become more Parisian in other ways. "Instead of a bowling alley in the basement of the White House, Paris would have a Pilates studio. What's the beef?
The rapper claims the fast food chain made him the star of its hip-hop themed ad campaign without his permission and (more importantly) without paying him a fee.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, accuses the Mexican-style fast food chain of "diluting the value of his good name" and employing a guerrilla advertising campaign to fool consumers into thinking he had endorsed the chain, said the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court.
"Without seeking or obtaining Jackson's authorization, defendant Taco Bell made him the star and focus of its nation-wide advertising campaign by using his name, persona and trademark to promote Taco Bell's business and products," court papers said.
The lawsuit accuses the chain of disseminating a letter, addressed to 50 Cent, that encourages the rapper to change his name to "79 Cent," "89 Cent" or "99 Cent," the lawsuit said.
The letter was designed to promote the company's "79-89-99 Cent Why Pay More" campaign, while avoiding the multimillion dollar fee the rapper might have charged to use his name, the lawsuit said.
The letter was eventually sent to the rapper, but only after it had been circulated to reporters, the lawsuit said.

PREGNANT MAN SHOWS BABY TO THE WORLD!
It's been three weeks since his blue-eyed baby debuted in this world, but Thomas Beatie – better known around the world as the Pregnant Man – can already say this about his daughter's personality: "She's easygoing and mellow and intelligent."
On June 29 at 8:55 p.m., Beatie, 34, a former female beauty pageant contestant, made cultural history as perhaps the first legally transgender male to give birth, bringing into the world a 9 lbs., 5 oz. baby girl named Susan Juliette.
"She's so precious, I just can't stop staring at her," Thomas tells PEOPLE in his first interview since he and wife Nancy returned with their bundle from Bend, Oregon's St. Charles Medical Center. "Just holding her is the best feeling in the world."

Rick Ross denied being a corrections officer in his past, but TheSmokingGun.com uncovered documents that verified claims that the Miami rapper was in fact a law officer.
Pictures surfaced online of Ross in a officer’s uniform, but in a video interview he denied the authenticity of the image. Ross said it was his head, however, the uniformed body was doctored and attached to his face. TheSmokingGun.com revealed plenty of specifics. They reported yesterday that a man with the same social security number as Ross was employed as a prison guard in Florida from December 1995 until June 1997. Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts, earned a salary of almost $23,000 when he graduated from the DOC training academy and earned almost $26,000 when he left. He was allegedly 19-years-old at the time.

"I think people have me mixed up with my character," she told Gannett News Service in 1993. "I would like to be as sure and magnanimous and feisty and strong and indomitable as she is."Getty died Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 84. Getty, who had advanced dementia, died at about 5:30 a.m., said her son Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica.
