LL Cool J names his "Mt. Rushmore of Def Jam Artists" when he was on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe.
Who did he put on there? He names Himself, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Slick Rick. Yes, those are all very solid choices given the impact that each one of them had not only on the rap game but also for the record label.
So, where's the issue?
LL left two massive artists off of his Mt. Rushmore. DMX and Jay-Z were both Def Jam artists who had a major impact on the industry. Clearly there is a group of fans that feel that those 2 should be on there.
What was LL's reasoning behind his picks?
LL was on the Joe Budden Podcast and defended his choices. He said that he picked the artists that helped build Def Jam from the ground up.

Do you think that LL was off base in his choices? For me, I think he was spot on given his reasons for picking who he picked. He made the choices based on who built the label. The day one people. And for that reason, I think LL was spot on with his choices.
